Inspirated by "The memory of Castelgandolfo" by Corot, painted near Eighteen-Sixty-Five.
 
It is a painting about memory which is a bucolic and pastoral representation of an Italian landscape. We are in the middle of a pictural revolution due to the arrival of nascent im- pressionism. To paint his work Corot takes inspiration from his own travel’s remembrance, standing in front of the canvas situated in his Parisian’s studio. Corot is trying to revive and transpose a memory, that could be identified to a flash-back or a reminiscence.
 
INTENTIONS
Through a video, we want to reproduce the mechanism of individual reminiscence, which is also a part of collective memory. The video is cyclical : it’s take the form of a loop with no specific beginning and ending. Everybody might also identify himself thanks to the variety of visual propositions. The video becomes a personal experience because each visitor live a different chronology. To each his own beginning and end, to each to call his own memories.
 
WHAT WE DO
We offer a three minute video showing flashbacks with aesthetics plans, fast and jerkies and some slower (videos we shot ourselves). This method seeks to stage the rememorization process of sou- venir, made elusive and unstable because of the spatio-temporal distance, in the manner of Corot trying to restore his past-felt experience on the canvas.
